The Effectiveness of The Exercise Program to Promote the Health of the Elderly With 5 Strengths

Abstract

This study aimed to 1) study the exercise program to promote the health of the elderly 2) study the elderly health promotion pattern with 5 strengths 3) comparing the elderly health promotion pattern with 5 strengths categorized by elderly’s personal information 4) comparing the elderly health promotion pattern with 5 strengths categorized by elderly health promotion exercising program. The sample of this study was 250 women who stay in the elderly woman almshouse, Mitthraphap songkroh foundation, Banmai sub-district, Muang district, Pathumthani province with 60 years old up. The tool of this study was a questionnaire. The statistics for data analysis were frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation and F-test. The result found that, 1. Most of the elderly’ s personal information was aged 66 – 70 years. The educational level was the primary school, The diabetes mellitus was commonly found, and 56 – 65 kilograms was their weight. Moreover, most of them lived with their family. 2. Most of the elderly health promotion exercising program was walking. The frequency of walking was every day. The exercise intensity was moderate until feeling slightly tried. Their exercising time was 30 – 60 minutes mostly. 3. In general, the elderly health promotion pattern with 5 strengths had the highest opinion level, and when analyzing on each aspect found that faith, energy of effort, concentration and wisdom of discernment had the highest opinion level, but mindfulness had the high level. 4. The comparing the elderly health promotion pattern with 5 strengths categorized by elderly’s personal information found that the difference of age of elderly, educational level, disease, their current weight and who they lived with had not to difference in the elderly health promotion pattern with 5 strengths. 5. The comparing the elderly health promotion pattern with 5 strengths categorized by elderly health promotion exercising program found that the elderly with different exercising and frequency had the difference elderly health promotion pattern with 5 strengths. However, the difference in exercising time had not to difference in the elderly health promotion pattern with 5 strengths.
