THE CAUSES AND CONSEQUENCES OF UNDERGROUND LOTTERY GAMBLING: A CASE STUDY OF THE NAKHON LUANG COMMUNITY, CHATUCHAK DISTRICT, BANGKOK METROPOLIS

The objective of this research is to study the causes and impacts of underground lottery gambling and to develop media to publicize its impacts. This research is qualitative in nature, conducted through in-depth interviews with 10 key informants from the Nakhon Luang community in Chatuchak District, Bangkok. The data was analyzed by collecting information from interviews, documents, and related research, followed by content analysis and summary of results.
The research findings indicate that the causes of underground lottery gambling can be categorized into two groups: the first group consists of those who gamble out of curiosity, and the second group consists of those who gamble with the expectation of returns. The impacts of underground lottery gambling on the Nakhon Luang community were found to be threefold: 1.Impacts on the individual 2.Impacts on the family 3.Impacts on society
