Main Article Content
Abstract
This research aimed to study 1) the relationship between the SET ESG Rating and industry type of Thai listed companies, and 2) the relationship between the SET ESG Rating and profitability of Thai listed companies. This was a quantitative research study, collected secondary data from 150 Thai listed companies, which had SET ESG Ratings for both 2023 and 2024, and had complete information, resulting in a total sample size of 300. The main data sources were the annual financial report of each company, compiled in the 56-1 The One Report, and the SET ESG Rating scores as assigned by the Stock Exchange of Thailand. Data were analyzed by using descriptive statistics. Inferential statistics, comprise of chi-square test and multiple regression analysis, were employed to analyze the research hypotheses. The results showed that the SET ESG Rating of Thai listed companies was associated with their industry type both 2023 (x2 = 32.887, Sig = 0.047) and 2024 (x2 = 36.331, Sig = 0.020). However, the SET ESG Rating of Thai listed companies was not significantly related to profitability, which measured by Return on Assets (ROA), at the significance level of .05, with an R-square value of 0.141. The findings of this research will be beneficial to the Stock Exchange of Thailand, as well as its listed companies, for planning sustainable performance in the dimensions of environment, society, and governance
