THE PARTICIPATION IN COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT OF THE PEOPLE IN SAI KHAO SUB-DISTRICT ADMINISTRATIVE ORGANIZATION, KHOK PHO DISTRICT, PATTANI PROVINCE

Abstract

 This research aimed to: 1) study the level of public participation in community development, and 2) study recommendations for guidelines on public participation in the community development of people in Sai Khao Subdistrict Administrative Organization, Khok Pho District, Pattani Province. This study employed a mixed - methods research design. 1) The quantitative research utilized questionnaires administered to a sample of 365 respondents, with data analyzed using mean () and standard deviation (S.D). 2) The qualitative research involved in - depth interviews with 25 key informants, including 7 subdistrict administrative organization executives, 8 local leaders, 3 religious leaders, and 7 public representatives. The research instruments comprised questionnaires and interview forms. The research findings revealed that 1) Overall public participation in community development was at a moderate level ( = 3.32). Considering each aspect, information perception had the highest mean at a high level ( = 3.85), followed by community economic development and promotion ( = 3.48), analysis and planning processes ( = 3.24), and transparency and good governance ( = 3.12), while the monitoring and evaluation process had the lowest mean ( = 2.89), respectively. 2) Regarding recommendations for participation guidelines, the study suggested enhancing the quality of local public forums by using religious sites as community connection bases, effectively integrating modern digital technology with local media, improving transparency through proactive disclosure, and promoting value - added agricultural products, processing, and eco - cultural tourism. Furthermore, the monitoring and evaluation process should actively involve citizens in inspection to foster transparent local administration that genuinely responds to the community.
