Main Article Content
Abstract
This study aimed to 1) examine parents’ opinions and the relationship between the service marketing mix and their decision to select an international school in Pattaya, Chonburi Province, and 2) propose practical guidelines for improving the school’s service marketing mix. A mixed - methods research design was employed. Quantitative data were collected from 238 parents of current students using a quality - assessed questionnaire, while qualitative data were obtained from four school administrators and marketing personnel through structured interviews. Quantitative data were analyzed using frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, and chi - square tests, whereas qualitative data were analyzed using content analysis. The findings showed that parents’ overall opinions regarding school selection were at a high level. Parents also expressed high levels of opinion toward product, people, process, and physical evidence, while price was perceived as relatively high when compared with the benefits received. Important aspects receiving favorable evaluations included modern teaching and learning, teacher competence, school safety systems, and convenience in the admission process. The analysis further revealed that product, place, promotion, process, and physical evidence were significantly associated with the decision to select the school at the .05 level, whereas price and people were not significantly associated with the decision. Based on these findings, the study recommends reviewing the tuition and fee structure to improve its appropriateness, reducing additional expenses related to extracurricular activities, developing more effective communication and public relations channels, and continuously strengthening the capabilities of support staff. These practical recommendations are intended to improve the quality of school services, strengthen long - term parental confidence in the school, respond more effectively to parents’ expectations, and support sustainable school development through systematic improvements in relevant elements of the service marketing mix. Overall, the findings provide practical information for improving service marketing activities and maintaining service quality in accordance with parents’ current needs and expectations.
