EFFECTS OF PARTICIPATORY INTERGENERATIONAL LEARNING ON DIGITAL MEDIA PRODUCTION SKILLS FOR LOCAL WIS.D.OM TRANSMISSION
Main Article Content
Abstract
This study aimed to 1) investigate the level of digital media production skills for local wiS.D.om transmission after participation in the learning activities and 2) compare the pretest and posttest digital media production achievement of older adults, teachers, and students. A pre-experimental one-group pretest-posttest design was employed. The target group comprised 63 participants, consisting of 23 older adults, 10 teachers, and 30 primary school students from Na Kham Yai Subdistrict, Khueang Nai District, Ubon Ratchathani Province. They were selected through purposive sampling based on their relevance to the area, readiness, and interest in local wiS.D.om. The learning activities consisted of five stages: local wiS.D.om modeling, workshop training, digital skills practice, local wiS.D.om transmission through digital media, and dissemination. Older adults served as knowledge holders, while teachers and students facilitated the learning process. The research instruments were an activity manual, a 14-item five-point rating scale for skills assessment (IOC ≥ .50), and a 15-item multiple-choice achievement test (KR-20 = .84). Data were analyzed using mean, standard deviation, and the paired-samples t-test. The results revealed that 1) the older adults' overall digital media production skills were at a high level ( = 3.78, S.D. = 0.74), and all dimensions were also at a high level, namely local wiS.D.om presentation (
= 3.80), outcomes and dissemination (
= 3.77), and digital media production (
= 3.62); and 2) the posttest achievement scores of the older adults, teachers, and students were significantly higher than their pretest scores at the .01 level in all groups (t = 8.259, 11.112, and 12.333, respectively). These findings indicate that complementary intergenerational roles help connect local wiS.D.om with digital media production and can serve as a guideline for promoting the inheritance of local wiS.D.om in the context of an aged society
