PROFESSIONAL GOLF MANAGEMENT IN THE ANDAMAN COAST PROVINCIAL CLUSTER

Abstract

 This study aimed to investigate the current state of professional golf management in the Andaman Coast provincial cluster. A mixed-methods research design with a sequential approach was employed. The research population consisted of six presidents of provincial sports associations, six team managers, six coaches, and 193 golfers from golf associations in the Andaman Coast provincial cluster, totaling 211 individuals. The research instruments consisted of a questionnaire and in-depth interviews. Data were analyzed using percentage, mean, and standard deviation. The findings revealed that the overall rating of professional golf management based on the 8Ms management framework was high. Management had the highest mean score, with appropriate parental participation in activities receiving the highest rating within this dimension. This was followed by Manpower, Money, Machine and Facilities, Method and Work Procedures, Morale, Marketing, and Materials, Equipment, and Facilities, respectively.
The qualitative findings revealed several challenges, including a shortage of standardized training facilities, insufficient financial support, limited access to sports science centers, and varying levels of readiness among provincial sports associations. Future development should be driven by the Sports City policy, increased support from the National Sports Development Fund, and the establishment of academic programs specializing in golf. Priority should also be given to developing youth and the general public through provincial golf clubs, organizing regular competitions, upgrading golf facilities to appropriate standards, and integrating sports science systems to promote sustainable golf development
