INNOVATIVE ONLINE TEACHING MEDIA FOR GEO-TOURISM IN KHORAT UNESCO GLOBAL GEOPARK: DEVELOPING CHINESE SPEAKING SKILLS FOR YOUNG TOUR GUIDES

Abstract
This research article aimed to: 1) to develop an innovative online teaching media for Geo-tourism in the Khorat UNESCO Global Geopark area to enhance Chinese speaking skills for young tour guides, and 2) to compare Chinese speaking abilities before and after learning using the innovative online teaching media among Grade 11 students in the Chinese language program. The research was conducted using a mixed-methods approach divided into two phases: Phase 1 involved developing the innovative online teaching media for Geo-tourism in the Khorat UNESCO Global Geopark area, with a target group of 3 experts. Phase 2 examined the effects of using the innovative online teaching media for Geo-tourism in the Khorat UNESCO Global Geopark area, with a sample group of 24 Grade 11 students in the Chinese language program during the second semester of the 2021 academic year. The research instruments included: 1) a quality assessment form for the appropriateness of the innovative online teaching media, 2) Chinese language lesson plans, 3) teacher and student manuals, and 4) a Chinese speaking proficiency test. Data analysis employed descriptive statistics including mean, standard deviation, percentage, t-test, and content analysis. The research findings revealed that: 1) the innovative online teaching media for Geo-tourism in the Khorat UNESCO Global Geopark area to develop Chinese speaking skills for young tour guides had an overall quality with a mean score of 4.23 (S.D.=0.75), indicating that the Chinese language teaching innovation had high overall quality, and 2) Grade 11 students who learned using the innovative online teaching media for Geo-tourism in the Khorat UNESCO Global Geopark area to develop Chinese speaking skills for young tour guides showed significantly higher Chinese speaking skills after learning with the innovative online teaching media compared to before learning, at the .05 significance level
