Publication Ethics

Publication Ethics

Adapted and revised from: https://publicationethics.org/

Duties and Responsibilities of Authors

  1. Authors must not submit manuscripts that have been previously published elsewhere, nor submit the same manuscript simultaneously to other journals.
  2. Authors must adhere to research ethics and must not plagiarize or claim others’ work as their own.
  3. Authors must prepare their manuscripts in accordance with the Guidelines for Authors.
  4. All listed authors must have made significant contributions to the preparation of the manuscript or the conduct of the research.
  5. Authors must properly cite all sources, including texts, images, and tables used in their work, by clearly indicating the source to avoid copyright infringement. (In case of any legal disputes, the responsibility lies solely with the authors; the journal bears no responsibility.)
  6. Authors must ensure the accuracy of all references and should cite only relevant sources appropriately, avoiding excessive or unnecessary citations.
  7. Authors are required to revise their manuscripts according to the comments and suggestions of reviewers and the editorial board within the specified timeframe.
  8. Authors must acknowledge all sources of research funding (if any) and disclose any conflicts of interest (if any).
  9. Authors must not present false or misleading data, including fabrication, falsification, distortion, selective reporting, or manipulation of data to support conclusions.
  10. Authors should not cite retracted publications unless the citation is specifically related to the retraction process, in which case it must be clearly indicated in the references that the source has been retracted.

Duties and Responsibilities of Editors

  1. Editors are responsible for evaluating the quality of manuscripts and selecting articles for publication after the peer-review process. Decisions should be based on the clarity, academic merit, and relevance of the content to the journal’s scope and policy. The content should reflect knowledge, theoretical perspectives, and insights derived from experience, literature synthesis, or research, with an emphasis on presenting new theories or conceptual models that advance understanding in important academic fields.
  2. Editors must not disclose any information about authors or reviewers to individuals not involved in the review process during the evaluation period.
  3. Editors must not publish manuscripts that have been previously published elsewhere. They must rigorously check for plagiarism using reliable tools to ensure originality. If plagiarism is detected, the review process must be terminated immediately, and the corresponding author must be contacted for clarification before making a decision to accept or reject the manuscript.
  4. Editors must have no conflicts of interest with authors or reviewers.
  5. Editors must not use any part of the manuscript for their own work.
  6. Editors are responsible for publishing research that demonstrates sound methodology and credible results, using research quality as a key criterion for publication decisions.
  7. If editors detect plagiarism or data fabrication that warrants retraction, and the authors refuse to withdraw the manuscript, editors have the authority to retract the article without the authors’ consent, as part of their responsibility to maintain publication integrity.

Duties and Responsibilities of Reviewers

  1. Reviewers must maintain confidentiality and must not disclose any information about the manuscript to unauthorized individuals during the review process.
  2. If reviewers recognize any potential conflicts of interest with the authors that may affect their ability to provide an impartial review, they must inform the editor and decline the review.
  3. Reviewers should evaluate manuscripts within their area of expertise, considering the significance of the content, the quality of analysis, and the rigor of the work. They should also identify relevant important works that have not been cited by the authors. Personal opinions without supporting evidence should not be used as criteria for judgment.
  4. Reviewers must not use any part of the manuscript for their own work.
  5. If reviewers detect similarities or overlap between the submitted manuscript and other published works, they must notify the editor immediately.
