An Effective Way of English Teaching Skills of Teachers at Government High Schools at War Ba Lauk Thauk Village in Yangon, Myanmar

Developing English teaching skills among educators in government high schools is crucial for effective language instruction and student learning outcomes. This study focuses on the progression of English teaching skills among teachers in War Ba Lauk Thauk Village, Yangon, aiming to understand their perceptions, practices, and areas for improvement. The objectives include studying teachers' English teaching skills, developing models and techniques, and assessing effectiveness.
The research employs a mixed-methods approach, combining documentary and qualitative methodologies. Interviews were conducted with 10 teachers randomly selected from a population of 45 at War Ba Lauk Thauk Village High School, ensuring diverse perspectives.
Results from a survey among village teachers highlighted their high confidence (80%) and active engagement (100%) in teaching practices. While strengths were identified (80%), areas for improvement, such as varied assessment methods (60%) and resource needs, were noted.
Data analysis indicated a moderately high proficiency in various dimensions of English teaching skills, with average ratings ranging from 4.3 to 4.7. Teachers demonstrated openness to new teaching models, utilization of technology, and successful implementation of innovative techniques.
Assessment of teaching effectiveness showed consistently high ratings (4.0 to 4.8) across various aspects, including utilizing assessment metrics, providing feedback, and fostering student engagement.
Insights from school observations provided valuable information on teaching practices, student behavior, and classroom dynamics, informing efforts for teacher professional development and enhancing teaching effectiveness.
Overall, the findings underscored teachers' dedication to continuous improvement and commitment to promoting student learning in English language education. By leveraging assessment tools, gathering feedback, and implementing effective strategies, teachers aim to create engaging and impactful learning experiences for students in Myanmar's context of English language education.
