A Study of Speaking Skills of Grade 10 Students at Government High School in Myittha Town of Myanmar

The purpose of this study was to undertake the topic “A Study of Speaking Skills of Grade 10 Students at Government High School in Myittha Town of Myanmar”. This study consists of two objectives, namely;
1) To study the speaking skills of Grade 10 students at a government high school in Myittha Town Myanmar.
2) To find out the solutions to the speaking skills problems of Grade 10 students at the government high school in Myittha Town Myanmar.
This study is a documentary and qualitative research with two parts of data collection; the first is an interview with 5 teachers who are from Grade 10 students at the government high school in Myittha Town Myanmar, second to study from textbooks, thesis, academic journals and also the tools used in this study documents, interview, and focus group discussion. Analysis of data used statistics, frequency, percentage, mean, Standard Deviation (S.D.), pre-test, and post-test. The researcher
attempted to elaborate and elucidate how the techniques are effective to gain the expected benefits.
In this research study, the result of finding was found that the numerous problems of the Grade 10 students at the government high school in Myittha Town Myanmar. These problems are lacking the quality of English teachers, the weakness of English syllabus management, the lack of the usage of educational tools and poor management of government scholarship, and the misunderstanding of the traditional English language teaching methods in Grade 10 students at the government high school in Myittha Town Myanmar. And also, the studying pointed out the problems of high school teachers who were facing daily life in educating their students. Thus, a study about these matters was very relevant to the present situation of the academic field in government high schools in Myanmar.
Regarding the analysis, the teachers’ attitudes and students’ attitudes are
related to the learning process in the classrooms and educational system. Therefore, the results of the solution to the problems have many ways to improve the academic qualification for English teachers who have such knowledge, abilities, good experience, knowledgeable of education skills, kinds of teaching problems, teaching effectiveness, and use of multimedia technology and index interviews with the high school teachers. And then, from Grade 10 students at the government high school in Myittha Town Myanmar, the list of teachers and students, numbers of schools, grades, gender, and percentage of teachers’ teaching was described by the researcher.
