Call for Papers May 2025 Issue: “Artificial Intelligence: Ethical and Social Implications in the Local Context”
Posted on 2024-09-27Papers are being called for a May issue of the Journal of Integrative and Innovative Humanities. The topic is “Artificial Intelligence: Ethical and Social Implications in the Local Context.”
It is undeniable that artificial intelligence (AI) has become more pervasive in everyday life. This has become all the more visible with the advent of chatbots based on large language models (LLMs), such as ChatGPT, Google Gemini, and others. The astonishing power of these chatbots have raised many questions, such as whether they are on the way to become conscious, or whether its use will result in loss of jobs by human beings, and others.
There have been many research works dealing with the ethical and social implications of ChatGPT; however, what is lacking is works dealing with these implications in the Thai or other local context. What exactly are the social and ethical implications of ChatGPT (and other forms of LLMs) especially in the Thai or in other local context? As ChatGPT is being used more extensively, what implications are there in terms of the quality of education, business writing, or in other areas?
Thus, this special issue calls for papers that discuss these issues. The focus is on how ChatGPT is related to the local context, given that ChatGPT originates from the West and comes mostly in English. Moreover, the focus is also on the broader ethical or social implications of AI in other areas.
This issue is part of the Research Project on “AI Ethics from the Ground Up,” supported by a grant from the National Research Council of Thailand.”
