บทความเรื่องนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่ออธิบายแนวคิดว่าด้วยเผด็จการอำนาจนิยม โดยใช้วิธีการวิจัยเชิงคุณภาพผ่านการวิเคราะห์เอกสาร)ที่มีความเกี่ยวข้อง ผลการศึกษาพบว่า เผด็จการอำนาจนิยม คือการใช้อำนาจของผู้มีอำนาจเพื่อรักษาอำนาจของตนอย่างผูกขาด โดยไม่คำนึงถึงเสรีภาพและความเสมอภาคของผู้อื่น และกีดกันการตรวจสอบการใช้อำนาจของตนจากผู้อื่น
