Public Participation in Community Development of kokmuang, Khao Chaison District, Phatthalung Province

Abstract

This research aimed to first, study the level of public participation towards community development in kokmuang Sub-district, Khao Chaison District, Phatthalung Province and second, to compare the participation of people in community development at kokmuang Sub-district, Khao Chaison District, Phatthalung Province, classified by personal factors and Perception of information of people about community development. The sample group consisted of a total of 384 people. The tool used to collect data was a questionnaire. The data were analysed by a computer program. The statistics used were frequency, percentage, mean and standard deviation.

1) At the level of public participation in community development, it was found that the people had a high level of opinion on overall and individual participation. The side with the highest average was participation in operations. And the side with the lowest mean was participation in monitoring and evaluation.

2) People perception of information and news about community development. Overall, the samples perceived information at a moderate level. With the issue of receiving the most information from the village headman or council member.

3) Sample population with age personal factors different levels of education, occupation, and length of residence in different areas contribute to different community development, marked statistically significant differences at level 0.05. But the samples with different sexes participation in community development is no different, In addition, it was found that the perception of information in the development of the people’s community had a high level of relationship with the participation of people in local development, marked statistically significant differences at level 0.05.
