About the Journal

The Buddhist ASEAN Studies Journal aims to promote and support faculty members, staff, students, and interested individuals both within and outside the university in disseminating scholarly works to the public. The journal publishes research articles, academic articles, book reviews, review articles, and special articles that meet academic standards. It also seeks to enhance the quality of academic works to gain recognition at both national and international levels. The journal aspires to serve as a knowledge hub for the exploration, transmission, and exchange of knowledge across diverse disciplines.

The journal welcomes submissions related to ASEAN Studies in various dimensions, including religion, education, society, economics, politics, arts and culture, history, geography, community development, psychology, and interdisciplinary applications in the humanities and social sciences. The journal is published twice a year, and all submitted manuscripts undergo a peer-review process by two to three qualified reviewers. Submissions are accepted in both Thai and English.


Types of Articles

  1. Research Articles
    These articles present findings from research studies in ASEAN Studies, covering areas such as Buddhism, philosophy, sociology, law, political science, anthropology, history, geography, arts and culture, community development, education, psychology, and interdisciplinary studies in the humanities and social sciences.
  2. Academic Articles
    These articles provide analytical discussions, critiques, or propose new academic perspectives supported by sound reasoning and evidence.
  3. Review Articles and Book Reviews
    These articles synthesize, analyze, and critique existing knowledge or publications, presenting both supporting arguments and differing academic viewpoints.
  4. Special Articles
    These are articles prepared for special occasions, such as anniversaries or significant academic or social events.

Publication Schedule

The Buddhist ASEAN Studies Journal is published biannually as follows:

  • Issue 1: January – June
  • Issue 2: July – December

This schedule has been effective since January 2025.

The journal’s Online ISSN is 2822-0935, and all articles are available for access, search, and download via the journal’s website.


Peer Review Process

All submitted manuscripts undergo a rigorous peer-review process prior to publication. Each article is reviewed by two to three experts using a double-blind peer-review system.

Manuscripts submitted by authors affiliated with the journal’s institution are reviewed by external reviewers. For manuscripts submitted by authors from outside the institution, the review process may involve either internal or external reviewers with relevant expertise and experience in the respective field. All reviewers must have no conflicts of interest with the authors.

Withdrawal and Postponement of Publication

As all manuscripts must undergo copyediting and production processes prior to publication, the journal reserves the right to withhold or indefinitely postpone the publication of certain articles under the following circumstances:

  1. The author cannot be contacted.
  2. The author fails to revise the manuscript in accordance with the journal’s recommendations.
  3. The author does not provide proof of payment for the article processing fee.
  4. The English abstract is found to be inaccurate or inadequate; in such cases, the journal may assign a qualified English-language expert to revise or retranslate the abstract, and the author will be responsible for the associated costs.

In this regard, it is the responsibility of the author to actively monitor, follow up, and inquire about the progress of their manuscript on a regular basis.
