Publication Ethics

Publication Ethics for Articles in DEC Journal: Art and Design

DEC Journal: Art and Design, Faculty of Decorative Arts, Silpakorn University, serves as a central platform for presenting academic work in art, design, and related fields through creative work, research, and academic writing for scholars, designers, artists, faculty, students, and the general public interested in academic work. To disseminate academic work according to established standards, upholding correctness, quality of work, transparency, and strict adherence to ethics, the following principles are observed:

The editorial board has therefore established guidelines for the roles and responsibilities of three groups of individuals to comply with journal publication standards: authors, editors, and peer reviewers. All parties must understand and follow these guidelines as follows:

Roles and Responsibilities of Authors

  1. Authors must certify that their published work has never been published anywhere before and is original work.

  2. Authors must study the article writing format according to the journal's criteria to ensure correct compliance with all components.

  3. Authors must write and submit entirely their own work. If the work references other authors' writings, proper citations must be made and clearly specified in the reference list within the article and in the bibliography at the end of the article.

  4. Authors must write factual information from research or academic inquiry and creative work with academic honesty, without consideration of academic benefits that might overlook or violate personal rights or human rights.

  5. Authors must not copy text from their own previous work on the same topic for publication in more than one academic journal without citing the original work according to academic principles in a manner that creates the understanding that the work is new.

  6. Authors must specify funding sources that supported the research.

  7. Authors with more than one contributor must have actual roles and responsibilities in research, inquiry, and article writing together.

  8. Authors must disclose any conflicts of interest present in the article to the editorial board from the initial submission.

  9. Authors must submit evidence of approval from the institutional research ethics committee if the article uses data from research involving humans or animals.

  10. Authors must not violate the article review process, article evaluation, and journal operations through any channels.

  11. Articles that do not pass reviewer evaluation cannot be re-evaluated or resubmitted again.

Roles and Responsibilities of Editors

  1. Editors have the responsibility to consider and screen the quality of articles for publication in the journal they oversee.

  2. Editors have the responsibility to publish articles in the journal according to the format, components, and criteria established by the journal.

  3. Editors must protect the confidentiality of authors and reviewers during the article evaluation period.

  4. Editors must not republish articles that have already been published.

  5. Editors must arrange the publication order of articles according to strictly defined criteria.

  6. Editors must not publish their own articles in the journal they oversee while serving as editor.

  7. Editors must not have conflicts of interest with authors, reviewers, and administrators.

  8. Editors must supervise to prevent rights violations and interference with the review process, article evaluation, and journal operations.

Roles and Responsibilities of Peer Reviewers

  1. Reviewers must not disclose information and must maintain confidentiality of articles.

  2. Reviewers must notify the journal editor and decline to review articles if they discover conflicts of interest with the authors of articles they are assigned to review.

  3. Reviewers should evaluate articles that match their area of expertise, considering principles, concepts, content, as well as the quality of analysis and intensity of work according to academic standards.

  4. Reviewers must evaluate according to academic standards, free from bias, evaluating according to facts and academic principles, not using personal opinions without sufficient supporting data.

  5. Reviewers must evaluate and provide constructive academic comments and criticism that benefit authors in detail for improvement and correction, emphasizing the advancement of academic knowledge creation.

  6. Reviewers must identify and highlight important academic work relevant to the article being evaluated that the authors did not mention. If any part or all of the article is similar or overlaps with other previously studied work, they must notify the editor.

  7. Reviewers must not violate or interfere with the article review process, article evaluation, and journal operations through any channels.
