Abstract
This study aimed to: (1) examine the level of opinions regarding factors influencing voters’ decisions in the election of the Chief Executive of Mu Mon Subdistrict Administrative Organization, Somdet District, Kalasin Province; (2) analyze the factors affecting voters’ decisions in the election of the Chief Executive of Mu Mon Subdistrict Administrative Organization, Somdet District, Kalasin Province; and (3) explore recommendations concerning factors influencing voters’ decision-making in this election. This research employed a quantitative research design. The sample consisted of 379 eligible voters residing in the jurisdiction of Mu Mon Subdistrict Administrative Organization, Somdet District, Kalasin Province, determined using Yamane’s formula. The research instrument was a rating-scale questionnaire. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, including percentages, means, frequencies, and standard deviations, as well as Binary Logistic Regression.
The findings revealed that: (1) overall opinions regarding factors influencing voting decisions were at a high level; (2) factors that significantly influenced voting decisions at the .05 level included past performance, affiliation with political groups or parties, policy proposals, and candidate characteristics. These four variables jointly accounted for 93.40% of the variance in voting decisions; and (3) recommendations suggested that candidates should emphasize direct communication with citizens to build trust, alongside policies aligned with local contexts that are feasible, transparent, and participatory. Candidates should appropriately utilize community networks, demonstrate vision, transparency, and participatory leadership, present concrete past achievements, and use political party affiliation as a supportive mechanism while prioritizing local interests.
