Abstract

This research was an action research study with two main objectives: 1) to develop the creative writing ability of grade 12 students, and 2) to study the relative growth of their creative writing ability. The target group consisted of 30 grade 12/8 students at Bankruat Witthayakharn School under the Secondary Educational Service Area Office, Buriram Province, during the first semester of the 2025 academic year. The research instruments consisted of 1) 12 lesson plans on creative writing with a total of 12 hours of instruction, 2) Five creative writing exercise books, 3) A classroom behavior observation form, and 4) A subjective creative writing ability test with one question. The statistical methods used for data analysis included percentage, mean, standard deviation, and relative growth statistics.
The findings revealed that 1) The students’ post-test mean score was higher than their pre-test mean score, with a post-test mean of 33.80 (67.60%) and a pre-test mean of 13.70 (27.40%). This indicates that the learning activities using the creative writing workbooks developed by the researcher effectively enhanced the students’ creative writing ability, 2) The analysis of the relative growth score (GS) showed that the students’ overall growth score was 55.37, which was at a high level. The 21 students (70.00%) demonstrated high-level growth, while nine students (30.00%) showed moderate-level growth. The results indicated that all students improved their creative writing ability through systematic action learning activities supported by the creative writing exercises.
