A Study of Interaction between Personal Factors and Career Decision Self-Efficacy for Lower Secondary School Students

Abstract
Occupation is very important to humans and the economy. Choosing a career that suits you will create happiness and an opportunity to be successful for work. It starts by considering your own self-efficacy in careers. In order to make decisions about choosing one's own career, which will be different according to the age of the person because at each age there is a process for deciding careers according to development. (Bandura, 1977; Howell, 1977) This study examined 1) the level of career decision self - efficacy for lower secondary school students at a school under the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration and 2) the interactions between gender and class affect to career decision self – efficacy for lower secondary school students at a school under the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration. The sample groups used in this study was the lower secondary school students at a school under the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration in the second semester of the academic year 2022. There were 316 students by stratified random sampling. The instrument used in this study was career decision self-efficacy questionnaire. The statistics used in data analysis were number, percentage, mean, standard deviation and two-way analysis of variance (Two-way ANOVA). The results of the research revealed that; 1) the level of overall career decision self – efficacy for the lower secondary school students at a school under the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration was moderate (M = 2.79) and accurate self-appraisal factor was moderate that had the least average score (M = 2.67) 2) there was no interaction between gender and class that affected to career decision self – efficacy. However, male and female students had difference career decision self – efficacy at a .05 level of significance.
