Abstract

This research aimed to 1)determine the efficiency of lesson plans using the Think-Pair-Share (TPS) learning technique based on the 80/80 criterion, 2) compare students' learning achievement before and after instruction using the TPS technique, 3)compare students' computational thinking skills before and after instruction using the TPS technique, and 4)study students' satisfaction with the lesson plans using the TPS technique in a Grade 2 mathematics course. The study was conducted with 30 Grade 2 students from Ban Nadi School, part of the Educational Efficiency Promotion Network in Na Yia District under the Office of Ubon Ratchathani Primary Educational Service Area 4, during the first semester of the 2024 academic year. The sample was selected through cluster random sampling. The research instruments included: 1)12 lesson plans using the TP Technique, 2) a learning achievement test, 3) a mathematics test measuring computational thinking skills, and 4) a student satisfaction questionnaire. Data were analyzed using mean, percentage, standard deviation, the E1/E2efficiency index, and the dependent sample t-test.

The findings revealed that 1) The results indicated that the efficiency of the lesson plans employing the Think–Pair–Share learning technique in Mathematics for Grade 2 students exceeded the established criterion of 88.13/85.10. 2) The findings revealed that the learning achievement of Grade 2 students in Mathematics after being taught through the Think–Pair–Share learning technique was significantly higher than before instruction at the .05 level. 3) The results showed that the computational thinking skills of Grade 2 students in Mathematics after learning through the Think–Pair–Share learning technique were significantly higher than those before learning at the .05 level. and 4) Moreover, the overall student satisfaction toward learning through the Think–Pair–Share learning technique was at the highest level.
