Abstract

This study aimed to develop and determine the quality of the curriculum and to investigate the effects of implementing the curriculum. The sample consisted of one class of 20 fourth-year mathematics major students in the academic year 2025. The research instruments included: 1) the curriculum, 2) curriculum supporting documents, and 3) an assessment of mathematics teacher innovativeness comprising three components: innovative products, innovator behaviors, and innovation thinking skills. Data were analyzed using the mean, standard deviation, and a paired-samples t-test.

The results showed that: 1) the developed curriculum comprised seven elements—background/rationale, curriculum principles, curriculum objectives, curriculum content, learning activity management, instructional media, and measurement and evaluation. The overall appropriateness of the curriculum had a mean score of 4.72 at the highest level, with a standard deviation of 0.34. The curriculum supporting documents had a mean score of 4.51 at the highest level, with a standard deviation of 0.53. The mathematics teacher innovativeness assessment demonstrated congruence and was suitable for assessing mathematics teacher innovativeness. 2) Regarding the effects of the curriculum implementation, the preservice teachers’ innovative product scores after learning were significantly higher than the predetermined criterion of 80% at the .05 level. Their innovator behaviors after learning were significantly higher than before learning at the .05 level, and their innovation thinking skills after learning were also significantly higher than before learning at the .05 level.
