GUIDELINES FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF ACADEMIC ADMINISTRATION USING PARTICIPATORY MANAGEMENT FOR SCHOOLS UNDER THE ROI ET PRIMARY EDUCATIONAL SERVICE AREA OFFICE 1

Abstract

          The purposes of this research were: 1) to investigate the current conditions, desirable conditions, and priority needs of academic administration; and 2) to develop guidelines for academic administration using participatory management for schools under the Roi Et Primary Educational Service Area Office 1. The research methodology consisted of two phases. 1) focused on studying the current conditions, desirable conditions, and priority needs of academic administration for schools. The sample group comprised 320 school administrators and teachers. The research instrument was a rating scale questionnaire. 2) involved the development of guidelines for academic administration using participatory management for schools. The informants included school administrators and heads of academic affairs from three schools with best practices, as well as five experts who evaluated the appropriateness and feasibility of the proposed guidelines. These informants were selected through purposive sampling. The research instruments in this phase consisted of interview forms and evaluation forms assessing the appropriateness and feasibility of the developed guidelines. The statistics used for data analysis were mean and standard deviation.

          The research findings revealed that: 1. The results of the study on the current conditions, desirable conditions, and priority needs of academic administration for schools indicated that the overall current condition of academic administration in schools under the Roi Et Primary Educational Service Area Office 1 was at a moderate level, while the overall desirable condition was at the highest level. The priority needs, ranked from highest to lowest, were: development of the learning process; measurement and evaluation, including credit transfer; internal supervision within schools; and development of the school-based curriculum. 2. The guidelines for academic administration using participatory management for schools consisted of four components comprising a total of 23 guidelines. The evaluation results provided by the experts revealed that the developed guidelines were appropriate and feasible at the highest level.
