Abstract

The aims of this research were 1) to study the personnel’s application of the dhamma called ‘Diññhadhammikattha-sam̃vattanika-dhamma(virtues leading to temporal welfare)’ at work, 2) to compare the personnel’s application of the dhamma at work, classified by the samples’ personal factors and 3) to study the ways of effective dhamma application of the personnel. The study employed a mixed research method. For the quantitative research, 201 samples were selected from the total of 400 in PhuWieng District, KhonKaen according to the formula of Krejcie and Moregan; by Stratified Random Sampling and Convenience Random Sampling. For the qualitative research, selected by Purposive Random Sampling, 5 administrators of Sub-district Administrative Organizations in Phu-Wieng District, KhonKaen were interviewed. The data gathering began from April 2016 to March 2017. The tools used in this study were a questionnaire and an interview form. The statistics used to analyze the data were: Frequency, Percentage, Mean, Standard Deviation, t-test (Independent Samples), OneWay ANOVA and Least Significant Difference: LSD.

The research results were as follows:

  1. The statistical score of the personnel’s application of ‘Diññhadhammikatthasam̃vattanika- dhamma at work in the research area in both overall and each item aspects was at a high level ( = 4.83), respectively ranked from the aspects of ‘to be endowed with watchfulness (   = 4.85, Pāli: ārakkhasampad ā); ‘association with good people (   = 4.84, Pāli: kalaya ṇamittat ā)’; ‘balanced livelihood (   = 4.82, Pāli: samaj īvit ā); ‘to be endowed with energy and industry (   = 4.80, Pāli: u ṭṭh ānasampad ā).
  2. The personnel with differences in gender, education and position applied the dhamma at work indifferently. This denied the hypothesis determined. The personnel with different age applied the dhamma differently.
  3. The ways to develop the application of the dhamma is that in the aspect of u ṭṭh ānasampad ā, the administrators should organize the training to develop the efficiency of the personnel to work effectively; the personnel should be diligent and be able to adjust their working methods to be modern and to earn highest benefit; in the aspect of ārakkhasampad ā, the administrators should raise awareness for the personnel to take care of the official facilities and use them for the highest benefits; in the aspect of kalaya ṇamittat ā, the administrators should consider teamwork of the units as the personnel are the service providers, they should be friendly, collaborative and be able to execute the assigned works; in the aspect of samaj īvit ā, the administrators should employ the King’s Sufficient Economy Philosophy to practice and apply in their daily life.
