PEOPLE'S PARTICIPATION IN LOCAL DEVELOPMENT OF ONGKHARAK SUBDISTRICT ADMINISTRATIVE ORGANIZATION, ONGKHARAK DISTRICT, NAKHON NAYOK PROVINCE

Abstract

The objectives of this research were (1) to study people's participation in local development of Ongkharak Subdistrict Administrative Organization, Ongkharak District, Nakhon Nayok Province.; and (2) to study recommendations on people's participation in local development of Ongkharak Subdistrict Administrative Organization, Ongkharak District, Nakhon Nayok Province. The research was quantitative. The population in the study consisted of people aged 18 years and over and listed in the house registration in Ongkharak Subdistrict Administrative Organization, Ongkharak District, Nakhon Nayok Province. There were 2,183 people for the sample.  It was obtained by taking the population to determine the sample size using the Taro Yamane formula. The sample consisted of 383 people.  The tools used for data collection were questionnaires. The statistics used for data analysis were frequency distribution, percentage, mean, standard deviation and F-test (One-way ANOVA).

The results found that (1) people's participation in local development of Ongkharak Subdistrict Administrative Organization, Ongkharak District, Nakhon Nayok Province, as a whole, had an average of 2.99 at a moderate level. When considering each aspect, it was found that benefit with the highest mean of 3.41, followed by the decision-making aspect with the mean of 3.40, the evaluation aspect with the mean of 2.75, and the implementation aspect with the mean of 2.40.;  and (2) the recommendations on people's participation in local development of Ongkharak Subdistrict Administrative Organization, Ongkharak District, Nakhon Nayok Province, for example, should allow people to participate in decision-making to solve problems that occured in the community more should encourage people to participate in planning policies or plans according to various projects or activities; should allow people to participate in sub-contracting projects or activities organized by the Sub-district Administration Organization; should encourage people to participate in supporting personal resources for subdistrict administrative organization for local development.
