THE ROLE OF BUDDHIST MONKS TOWARDS ETICAL POLITICALIZATION TO PEOPLE IN DEMOCRATIC REGIME WITH THE KING AS THE HEAD IN MUANG DISTRICT, SURAT THANI PROVINCE

Abstract

The objectives of this research were as follows 1. to study the roles of Buddhist monks towards ethical politicalization to people in democratic regime 2. to study guidelines for the development the role of Buddhist monks towards ethical politicalization to people in democratic regime. This research is mixed method research. Quantitative research use questionnaires as tool to collect information from a sampling of 181 monks. The statistic used were frequency, percentage, mean and standard deviation. Qualitative research use content analysis of 5 abbots in interview.

The results of the research found that: 1) The roles of Buddhist monks towards ethical politicalization to people in democratic regime with the King as Head in Muang district, Surat Thani province overall, it was at a high level. Sorted in order of average from most to least as follows: preaching promote political ethics, organizing activities to promote political ethics and public relations to promote political ethics, respectively. 2) Suggestions on the roles of Buddhist monks towards ethical politicalization to people in democratic regime. it was found: public and private agencies should support the monks in terms of budget and technology needed to organize activities to promote political ethics and monks should develop themselves in knowledge able apply Buddhist principles to teach people to understand political ethics better and monks should develop their knowledge of technology able use as a tool for dissemination of Buddhist principles in order to refine political ethics to public get better.
