DEVELOPMENT OF CHILDREN WITH SPECIAL NEEDS WITH LOCAL WISDOM TOY

The purpose of this research is to promote the development of children with special needs to their individual with local wisdom toys. To encourage parents to have knowledge of creating toys from local wisdom which is used to develop children with special needs, including communities and network partners to participate in developing children with special needs through toys process with local wisdom. The sample used in the research were 1) 26 children with special needs which were picked by case by case sampling. 2) 50 parents of children with special needs. 3) 20 communities and network partners: (Research and Development), (Single Subject Design), (Basic A-B), (Baseline and Intervention Design), (Intervention) and (follow-up) were used in this research. The tools used in the research were 1) wisdom toys which is promoting the development of children with special needs 2) the developmental assessment form for children with special needs 3) parents’ satisfaction questionnaire and networks partners. The duration of the research were 8 months, starting the research project on 1 November 2014.The research project ended on 31 May 2015. This research was divided into 8 phases. The statistics used in this research were (the mean score), (standard deviation), (The Wilcoxon Matched Pairs), (Signed - Ranks Test)
The results showed that the study of promoting the development of children with special needs with local wisdom toys, 1) the developmental score of children with special needs before being trained by using local wisdom toys was between 6 - 10 points, the mean was 8.23 and the value The standard deviation of 1.21, it was developed at the improvement level. After being trained using local wisdom toys, there was a score range between 25 – 36 points, the mean was 30.77 and the standard deviation was 3.56.
