7 APARIHANIYADHAMMA PRINCIPLES APPLICATION THAT AFFECT PEOPLE'S POLITICAL PARTICIPATION IN MAHASALAKHAM PROVINCE

Abstract

The objectives of this research were 1) to study level of people's political participation, 2) to analyze 7 Aparihaniyadhamma principles application on political promotion that affect people's political participation, and 3) to present 7 Aparihaniyadhamma principles application on political promotion that affect people's political participation in Mahasalakham province. This research was mixed methodology. The conceptual framework of the research was applied from P.A. Payutto ‘s study. The population consisted of 948,310 people who aged 18 years old and lived in Mahasalakham province. The samples were 400 people determined by Krejcie & Morgan’s table and interviewed 15 government officers and community leaders in Mahasalakham province. The instruments used in this research were a 5-rating scale questionnaire, and interview form and content summarize. The statistics used for data analysis were frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, and Multiple Regression Analysis.

          The research results revealed that 1) 7 Aparihaniyadhamma principles application on political promotion that affect people's political participation in Mahasalakham province as a whole was at a moderate level. When considering each aspect found that 7 aspects were at moderate levels including concerning the maintenance of Buddhism as well as the religious monks was at  the highest average, followed by respect for places of worship in the nation and honoring women and accepting equality for women and men, participating in setting political rules, readiness for a meeting, respect for the chairman and opinions of members at the meeting and regularly meeting together aspect was at the lowest average.2) analyze 7 Aparihaniyadhamma principles application on political promotion found that regularly meeting together, respect for places of worship in the nation concerning the maintenance of Buddhism as well as the religious monks affecting people's political participation at 37.60% with statistically significant level of .05 , and 3) the 7 Aparihaniyadhamma principles application on political promotion that affect people's political participation in Mahasalakham province must be taken to support civil society organizations
working on democracy. Encourage citizens to participate in politics and the

government must develop an educational curriculum on the 7 principles of Aparihaniyadhamma.
