CREATION PROCESS OF CONTEMPORARY THAI PERFORMING ARTS "BUPPHACHAT THOTSARAT RACHA"

Abstract

           This article proposed a methodology for creating contemporary Thai performing arts inspired by the revered royal sacred grove associated with Phrabat Somdet Phra Poramenthara Mahathibodi Si Sinthon Maha Wachiralongkon Phra Wachiraklao Chao Yuhua, His Majesty King Rama X. By integrating creative design methodologies and drawing from the profound significance and aesthetic appeal of the sacred grove, the study explored elements of Thai and global performing arts to develop performances that resonated with contemporary society. Research methods included document analysis, interviews with performers involved in the creation process, presentation of findings, and conclusions.

           The findings indicated that the creation process successfully incorporated key characteristics of the revered royal sacred grove into contemporary Thai performing arts. Four main aspects of the performance were identified namely, performance structure, costume design, musical arrangement, and choreography. Additionally, the article emphasized the successful integration of Thai and international dance forms to convey emotions and sentiments within the enchanting atmosphere of the sacred grove, fostering deeper understanding of the dedicated flower. Notably, this creative process offered unique perspectives on contemporary dance arts, focusing on cultural preservation, and providing insights for further research into Thai performing arts in contemporary society.
