DEVELOPMENT OF LEADERSHIP IN LOCAL ADMINISTRATION ORGANIZATION OF PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION MAJOR STUDENTS BY USING COMMUNITY BASED LEARNING

Abstract

The objectives of this research were to develop a leadership in Local administration Organization of Public Administration Major students by using community-based learning. The research consists of four steps. Step 1 studying necessary background information. Step 2 developing the community-based learning lesson plan. Step 3 conducting a trial of the community-based learning lesson plan. The researcher selected a purposive sample consisting of 80 Local administration Organization of Public Administration Major Students. Step 4 improving the community-based learning lesson plan. The research tools consist of 1) an assessment form for leadership in local administrative organization management, evaluated by instructors and learners, 2) a satisfaction assessment form. The statistics used were the mean, standard deviation, and t-test.

The research findings indicate that: 1) before and after using the community-based lesson plan, the students' leadership evaluation results in local administrative organization management were significantly different at the .05 level. The leadership evaluation results were at a high level after the training (Mean = 4.39, S.D. = 2.67), which was higher than before the training, where the results were at a low level (Mean = 2.78, S.D. = 2.67). 2) The students' satisfaction was at the highest level overall (Mean = 4.59, S.D. = 0.87). Satisfaction was highest for the speaker (local administrative organization Administrator) (Mean = 4.81, S.D. = 0.25), followed by evaluation and assessment (Mean = 4.79, S.D. = 0.54), teaching and learning format (Mean = 4.61, S.D. = 1.24), content (Mean = 4.54, S.D. = 1.01), activity organizer (Mean = 4.47, S.D. = 1.09), and time duration (Mean = 4.30, S.D. = 1.08).
