POLITICAL UNDERSTANDING OF DEMOCRACY OF PEOPLE IN THE AREA OF CHUM PHAE MUNICIPALITY, CHUM PHAE DISTRICT, KHON KAEN PROVINCE

Abstract

This research article has the following objectives: 1) to study the political understanding of democracy of the people in Chum Phae Municipality, ChumPhae District, Khon Kaen Province 2) to compare the political understanding of democracy of the people in Chum Phae Municipality and
3) to study the suggestions on the political understanding of democracy of the people in Chum Phae Municipality. The population studied was 24,800 eligible voters in Chum Phae Municipality. The sample size was determined using Taro Yamane's formula, resulting in 394 samples. and used stratified random sampling technique. Then simple random sampling was performed by drawing lots without replacement. Data collection was done using questionnaires, checklists, data analysis, percentages, means, standard deviations, and statistics using t-test and F-test references. The Scheffe method was used to test for pairwise differences. The research results found that:

1. The political understanding of democracy of the people in Chum Phae Municipality, Chum Phae District, Khon Kaen Province was at a high level overall, with an average of 3.67.
2. The results of comparing people of different genders showed that the political understanding of democracy of the people in Chum Phae Municipality was not different overall. However, age, education level, and occupation were different. There is a statistically significant difference in political understanding of the people in Chum Phae Municipality at the .05 level.
3. Suggestions on solutions to the problem of political understanding of the people in Chum Phae Municipality

        (1) In terms of the principles of democracy, the government must come from an election, not from a seizure of power.

        (2) In terms of behavior regarding political culture, it was found that the history of politicians should be considered as good people with a history of unethical or immoral behavior.

        (3) In terms of interest in political roles, it was found that creating understanding in exercising the right to choose good people should allow the people to participate in matters of public benefit.
