DEVELOPMENT OF CHILD PROTECTION PROCESS IN CHILD DEVELOPMENT AND REHABILITATION CENTERS, DEPARTMENT OF CHILDREN AND YOUTH, MINISTRY OF SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT AND HUMAN SECURITY

Abstract

This qualitative research aimed to 1) study the child protection process of a multidisciplinary team in a development and rehabilitation center, 2) study the problems and obstacles in the process of child protection of a multidisciplinary team in a development and rehabilitation center, and 3) study the guidelines for developing the child protection process of a multidisciplinary team in a development and rehabilitation center. There were 20 key informants and the data was analyzed using content analysis.

The results of the study found that 1) the child protection process included following the prescribed admission process, investigating facts related to children, analyzing various problems, providing assistance, evaluating the operation, conducting home visits and following up on the results. The results of the 1-year home visit trial were considered for termination of assistance.
2) Problems and obstacles in the child protection process include: lack of understanding about the roles, missions, and tools used in the process, limited personnel, incomplete child documents, lack of clear communication, children fighting, insufficient budget, children without civil registration status, and no meeting to terminate the service and 3) Guidelines for developing the child protection process include: publicizing the objectives of the operation; personnel should complete relevant training courses before starting work; organizing activities to enhance children's skills; involving the community in jointly preventing and solving problems; continuously following up on children after they are returned to their families; and holding a multidisciplinary team meeting to terminate the service every time.
