ADAPTING ACCOUNTING EDUCATION IN THAILAND IN THE ERA OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE (AI): OPPORTUNITIES AND CHALLENGES

Abstract

The rapid development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology has brought significant changes to various fields, including accounting education in Thailand. AI enhances teaching, assessment, and curriculum development by providing personalized learning experiences tailored to individual students' needs and abilities. It also enables more accurate and systematic assessments of student performance while improving access to education for all students, especially those in remote areas lacking necessary resources and technologies. In adapting accounting education in Thailand for the AI era, it is essential to develop clear ethical frameworks to guide the appropriate use of AI in data analysis, content creation, and assessment. Accounting curricula should integrate courses related to AI and data analytics, such as Data Analytics and Machine Learning, to meet the evolving needs of the accounting industry. Moreover, faculty training in AI usage for teaching and assessment is crucial to ensuring effective integration.The findings suggest that AI has the potential to enhance accounting education curricula to better meet the demands of the digital labor market and increase accessibility for all students. A key strategy for success is fostering collaboration between government, private sector, and educational institutions to develop technological infrastructure, train faculty, and update curricula to align with AI advancements.
