DEVELOPMENT OF ENGLISH SPEAKING SKILLS BY USING GALLERY WALK TECHNIQUES FOR YEAR-1 VOCATIONAL CERTIFICATE STUDENTS

Abstract

The purposes of this research were to: 1) develop an English-speaking learning activity using the Gallery Walk technique of Year-1 Vocational Certificate students on the 80/80 efficiency criterion. 2) compare the English-speaking achievement of Year-1 Vocational Certificate students before and after using the Gallery Walk technique and 3) study students’ satisfaction with the learning by using the Gallery Walk technique to develop English-speaking skills. The sample group was purposively selected to be eighteen of the Year-1 Vocational Certificate students’ class 3 in Accounting at Nakhon Sawan Vocational College in the academic year 2567. The research instruments in this research included 1) The lesson plan with the Gallery Walk technique. 2) English Speaking Ability Test before and after learning and 3) Students’ satisfaction assessment form for learning by using Gallery Walk technique to develop English speaking skills. The statistics used for data analysis were analysis; mean, standard deviation, and t-test (dependent samples).

The results of the study were as follows: 1) The Gallery Walk technique had an efficiency was 82.72/86.22 higher than the defined criteria of 80/80. 2) The students who learned by Gallery Walk technique. There were the post-experiment English Speaking Ability increased over the pre-experiment at the .05 level of statistical significance and 3) The satisfaction of the students to learning using Gallery Walk technique to develop English speaking skills were at the high level. (  = 4.46, S.D. = 0.59)
