THE RESULTS OF GROUP ART ACTIVITIES ON PLANNING SKILLS OF EARLY CHILDHOOD IN THE NETWORK OF MUNICIPAI SCHOOLS KHON KAEN PROVINCE

This research aims to 1) Study the planning skills of early childhood children before and after participating in group art activities, and 2) Compare the planning skills of early childhood children before and after participating in the activities. The samples were 20 boys and girls aged 5–6 years, enrolled in Kindergarten 3 at Ban Toom Municipal School under the Office of Education, Khon Kaen Municipality. They were obtained by cluster random sampling, using the classroom as the sampling unit. The research instruments consisted of : 1) A set of 24 lesson plans for group art activities, and 2) An observation form for assessing the planning skills of early childhood children with 14 items. Data were collected through behavioral observation during activity participation, and analyzed using basic statistics including mean, standard deviation, and the t-test for dependent samples to compare pretest and posttest mean scores. The results revealed that : 1) The planning skills of early childhood children before participating in group art activities were at a moderate level, and after participation, at a high level; and 2) The planning skills of early childhood children after participating in group art activities were significantly higher than before participation at the .01 level of statistical significance. When considering each aspect—creative thinking, group planning, problem-solving, sharing, generosity, discipline, responsibility, and self confidence—it was found that all aspects showed significant improvement at the .01 level. The research concluded that group art activities effectively promote the planning skills of early childhood children.
