PUBLIC PARTICIPATION IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF NA NONG THUM SUBDISTRICT MUNICIPALITY, NAKLANG DISTRICT, NONG BUA LAMPHU PROVINCE

Abstract

This research aimed to 1) study the public participation in the development of Na Nong Thum Subdistrict Municipality, 2) compare the public participation in the development of Na Nong Thum Subdistrict Municipality classified by gender, age, education level, and occupation, and 3) propose guidelines for developing public participation in the development of Na Nong Thum Subdistrict Municipality. The sample group used in this research was 381 people aged 18 years and over living in Na Nong Thum Subdistrict Municipality using Yamane's formula. The instrument used for data collection was a questionnaire. The statistics used for analysis were number, percentage, mean, standard deviation, and data analysis. Hypothesis testing was done using t-test and f-test.

          The research results found that

1. Public participation in the development of Na Nong Thum Subdistrict Municipality, Naklang District, Nong Bua Lamphu Province, was at a high level overall. When considering each aspect, it was found that the aspect with the highest average value was participation in decision-making, followed by participation in evaluation, and the aspect with the lowest average value was participation in receiving benefits.
2. Comparing public participation in the development of Na Nong Thum Subdistrict Municipality classified by gender, age, education level, and occupation, it was found that overall, people with different levels of education participated in the development of Na Nong Thum Subdistrict Municipality. There is a statistically significant difference at the .05 level. People with different genders, ages, and occupations have no difference in their participation in the development of Na Nong Thum Subdistrict Municipality. 3. Guidelines for developing public participation in the development of Na Nong Thum Subdistrict Municipality include supporting public participation in political decision-making, economic and social development planning, and the provision of public services.
3. Suggestions, guidelines for developing public participation in the development of Nong Bua Subdistrict Administrative Organization, Mueang District, Nong Bua Lamphu Province, include: 1) Nong Bua Subdistrict Administrative Organization should organize meetings or open forums for public participation in various aspects regularly every month.
