Abstract

The objective of this research is to study the perspectives of undergraduate students who was infected COVID-19. This study investigated participants’ experiences and opinions about
the disease, hospitalization, and life after getting COVID-19. In this qualitative research, 8 key informants aged between 18-25, were the university students during the interview period and had been hospitalized for COVID-19, were interview online via zoom. The transcripts were analyzed using Thematic Analysis. The results revealed 3 themes of perspectives: 1. Guilt of being the
cause of their close ones’ infection or self-quarantine 2. Having difficulties with the treatment/ hospitalization and 3. Changes of perspectives in life including greater understanding of the other infected people and uncertainty of life; however, even in such situation, most informants agreed that life still had to move forward. The findings of this study contribute to the better understanding of how university students have gone through the COVID-19 infection. Our study could help the university on providing not only appropriate physical but also psychological supports for those infected students. Moreover, the results of this current research may also help develop a management system for testing and receiving treatment for COVID-19.
