Promoting Health Literacy to prevent the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19): Concept and Guideline

The COVID-19 Pandemic situation which is still in crisis and continues to be infected, has resulted in people around the world having to adjust themselves to take care of themselves and be more aware of their health care to prevent infection. Therefore, it is important to promote health literacy among people in order to achieve a real understanding of self-care and avoiding risky behaviors for infection. Hence, people get to know /how to tack care of themselves and are able to strictly follow of doctor or healthcare professional instructions.
This article aims to present the concept and practice guidelines for enhancing health literacy. A literature review was applied. The result found that the guideline s for promoting the health literacy in the prevention of COVID-19 should consider applying the self-efficacy concept to encourage mastery experience, vicarious experience, and successful approach. The guidelines should focus on a learning model such as action learning, a workshop based on the level of knowledge, skills, and abilities of the person to provide the most effective for preventing COVID-19.
