Abstract

This qualitative research aimed to examine the experiences of self-embrace in graduate students with burnout during the COVID-19 pandemic. Using Giorgi’s Phenomenological Psychological Method. Key informants were five graduate students who experienced burnout during the COVID-19 pandemic. Data were collected by the researchers through in-depth interviews. Findings revealed three main themes. The first theme is taking breaks and doing activities to recharge energy for getting back to their responsibilities with a fresh perspective. The second theme is maintaining a support network of family members, friends, and work colleagues with whom they can share feelings and experiences. The third theme is handling negative life events by recognizing and accepting symptoms of burnout, developing time management skills, and prioritizing self-management and self-care.
