Abstract

The purpose of this study was to explain the importance of lateral thinking leaders in educational innovation. It uses a cognitive synthesis approach through related concepts to identify correlations and possibilities from the scope of the study. Leadership is something that can happen to anyone, but lateral thinking is not. This is because perspectives are refined from experiences and stressful environments. An important aspect of educational innovation is that leaders must have a growth mindset capable of asking lateral questions based on knowledge and practical possibilities. The methodology for innovation must be properly designed. In addition, once the process has begun to produce a new result, the original result should not be abandoned, and the knowledge must be sought by connecting the dots. The reason is that creating tangible educational innovations requires long periods of time and ongoing stakeholder engagement. However, creating educational innovations that not only achieve student achievement but also reflect the direction of future educational innovation development.
