Approaches to Enhancing Housekeeping Efficiency of Hotel Maids in the Bangkok Metropolitan Region During the COVID-19 Pandemic

Abstract

This research aimed to study the problems and effects on the work and development of the housekeeping department in hotels during the COVID-19 Pandemic. A mixed-method research design was employed by distributing a questionnaire to 169 sample respondents and having in-depth interviews with 10 key informants.

          Overall, the problems and effects on the work of the hotel housekeeping department were found to be moderate, resulting in the median at 3.40. The study also suggested that the stability of work was the most problematic and extremely affected the work outcome at 4.09, while the least determinant that influenced the work was health and sanitation, showing the average moderately at 2.91.

          In terms of improving the work capability of the housekeeping department in hotels during the pandemic, the general conclusion was shown highly at 4.14. Specifically, the encouragement to enhance the hotel housekeeping services was immensely highest at 4.15 and least at 4.12 in support of self-development provided for the housekeepers. Additionally, it was important to understand the actual context of the problems and needs with regard to economics, society, mind, and knowledge.
