Problem-Based Learning and Teaching Management for a Short-Term Vocational Program in Fuel-Injected Motorcycle Repair at Nakhon Luang Polytechnic College

Abstract

This research aims to 1)develop problem-based learning and teaching management, 2) compare learning achievement using problem-based learning and teaching, and 3) study the satisfaction of trainees towards problem-based learning and teaching in the short-term vocational course on fuel-injected motorcycle repair at Nakhon Luang Polytechnic College. The sample group for this research was 20 trainees from the short-term vocational course in automotive mechanics at Nakhon Luang Polytechnic College, who were registered for session 189/2 in the academic year 2024. A cluster random sampling method was used to select the classroom. The research instruments included 1) problem-based learning and teaching management plans, 2) a learning achievement test, and 3) a satisfaction questionnaire. The statistical methods used for data analysis were percentage, mean, standard deviation, and a t-test.

The research findings revealed that: 1) the developed problem-based learning and teaching management consists of six steps: 1) Defining the Problem, 2) Understanding the Problem, 3) Conducting Research, 4) Synthesizing Knowledge, 5) Concluding and Evaluating the Solution, and 6) Presenting and Evaluating the Work. An analysis of the post-test results showed that the trainees' average score was 76.17, which is considered good, 2) the comparison of learning achievement using the developed problem-based learning showed that the post-test scores were significantly higher than the pre-test scores at a statistical significance level of .05, and 3) Trainees' satisfaction with the problem-based learning and teaching management was at a high level.
