Abstract
The purposes of this research were to study 1) the priority needs on the participatory student affairs management of school administrators, and 2) the guidelines for the participatory student affairs management of school administrators. This research employed a mixed-method design. The samples consisted of 346 teachers under the Secondary Educational Service Area Office Buriram, selected by using the Krejcie and Morgan table, and multi-stage random sampling. the key informants consisted of 5 experts selected by using purposive sampling. The research instruments were a questionnaire and a semi-structured interview.
The statistics used for data analysis were percentage, mean, standard deviation, Priority Need
Index Modified (PNI Modified), and content analysis.
The results of this study were as follows: 1) The current states of the participatory student affairs management of school administrators, overall, was at a high level, whereas the desirable state, overall, was at the highest level. The priority needs on the participatory student affairs management of school administrators, overall was a PNI Modified value of 0.165. The priority needs, ranked from highest to lowest were decision making, autonomy, sharing vision, and trust. 2) Regarding the guidelines for the participatory student affairs management of school administrators in the aspect of participation in decision making, school administrators should have provided opportunities for teachers and all stakeholders to express their opinions and participate jointly in decision-making concerning policies, goals, plans, and activities. Emphasis should have been placed on attentive listening without judging or criticizing differing opinions. In addition, a safe atmosphere or space for expressing opinions should have been created, and collaborative learning within the organization should have been promoted.
