Abstract

This qualitative research aims (1) to examine the components, processes, and gaps of the learning management, and (2) to develop a learning model for the Premium Course of Hotel Management Program (PMC), a collaboration between Rajamangala University of Technology Thanyaburi (RMUTT) and Banyan Tree Bangkok. The study integrates Cooperative and Work-Integrated Education (CWIE), Outcome-Based Education (OBE), and Hotel Professional Competencies under the CIPP evaluation framework. Thematic analysis was conducted using data from 23 key informants (8 RMUTT administrators/lecturers, 7 Banyan Tree supervisors, and 8 PMC students) collected through in-depth interviews, focus group discussions, and participant observation. The findings revealed three core themes: (1) Strategic Co-Design, (2) Immersive Luxury Standards, and (3) the Intensity-Wellbeing Gap, the last being a significant new contribution. These were synthesized into the PMC-HTC Model comprising four mechanisms: (1) Foundation & Co-Design; (2) Immersive Practice for developing embedded skills; (3) a Support & Feedback Ecosystem addressing the Intensity-Wellbeing Gap through a Weekend Buddy system and well-being tracking; and (4) Premium Achievement and Sustainability. In conclusion, the PMC-HTC Model shows strong potential to produce graduates with Ready-to-Work characteristics and reflects its capacity to narrow the gap between education and the luxury hotel industry. Its cornerstone is the creation of a "Balance of Success" between international standards and learners' well-being, serving as an innovative prototype for developing high-quality personnel for the service industry in a sustainable manner.
