Abstract

The purpose of this research was to study the best practices in and administration approaches of Student Council Model School Administration under Buriram Primary Educational Service Area Office 2. The study employed a qualitative research methodology using two types of research instruments: 1) a focus group discussion guide involving two school directors and four experienced teachers in student council work from Ban Nongran School and Anuban Bankruat School in Buriram Province during the academic year 2023, and a semi-structured interview guide involving three school directors and six expert teachers in student council administration who had experience in administering model student council schools within the same educational service area in the 2023 academic year. Key informants were purposively selected, and the data were analyzed using content analysis to extract key issues and management approaches.

         The research results revealed that: 1) Model schools demonstrated systematic best practices in student council administration, including role assignment, planning, meetings, activity implementation, and evaluation. These practices emphasized student participation at every stage and included collaboration with communities and external organizations. Moreover, schools developed best practice innovations that showcased students’ genuine administrative potential. 2) The recommended administration approaches included: joint planning meetings between teachers and students; systematic use of action plans and activity calendars; clearly defined roles and responsibilities; opportunities for student involvement from idea proposal to activity conclusion; leadership and responsibility skill development; and the inclusion of advisory committees from governmental, private, and community sectors to support budgeting, resources, and knowledge. Student council activities were also evaluated with clearly defined criteria, and the results were used for continuous improvement.
