Abstract

The objectives of this study are to were 1) examine students’ perspectives on their decision to pursue undergraduate education. 2) explore strategies to enhance undergraduate enrollment at Bota College, Jilin Normal University, People’s Republic of China. The sample consists of 331 first-year undergraduate students from Boda College, Jilin Normal University, determined based on the Krejcie and Morgan table. The research instrument used was a questionnaire, with an overall reliability coefficient of 0.969. Data analysis was conducted using percentage, mean, and standard deviation. Additionally, to explore enrollment enhancement strategies, semi-structured interviews were conducted with five experts, and the data were analyzed using content analysis.


The research findings indicated that: 1) The overall level of agreement regarding students’ decision to pursue undergraduate education was at a high level. (  = 3.58, S.D. = 0.76. 2) Strategies to promote student enrollment included: enhancing the college’s multi-dimensional attractiveness to improve its image. Expanding faculty development opportunities by fostering academic exchanges both domestically and internationally. Improving education service quality by increasing resource allocation efficiency. Ensuring students perceive value in their education investment; strengthening collaboration with industries to create employment opportunities for graduates. And creating a convenient, safe, and comfortable campus environment to enhance students’ learning experience.
