The International Journal of Science Education and Teaching (IJSET), published by the Science Education Association (Thailand) (SEAT), would like to inform authors of its manuscript review and publication process and the target timelines for each stage. Authors are encouraged to plan their submissions in accordance with the following procedures.

1. Manuscript Review and Publication Process

1. Submission and Pre-assessment

The editorial team screens each submission for journal scope, completeness, preliminary academic quality, formatting, and research ethics requirements. The target timeframe for pre-assessment is approximately 3–7 business days. If preliminary revisions are requested, authors are expected to revise and resubmit within the period specified by the journal, typically 7–14 days.

2. Peer Review

Manuscripts that pass the initial screening proceed to double-blind peer review by at least three qualified reviewers. The target timeframe for the first round of peer review is approximately 1–2 months, although some cases may take longer than two months.

Possible review outcomes are as follows:

  • Accept: The editor evaluates the reviewers' recommendations before the manuscript proceeds to final editorial checking.

  • Minor Revision: Authors must revise and resubmit the manuscript within 30 days. The editor checks the revisions before the manuscript proceeds to final editorial checking.

  • Major Revision: Authors must revise and resubmit the manuscript within 60 days. The revised manuscript is normally returned for another round of peer review, with a target timeframe of approximately one month per round. Further revision rounds may be required until the manuscript is accepted or rejected.

  • Reject: The review process ends, and the manuscript will not proceed to publication.

In subsequent review rounds, the possible outcomes remain Accept, Minor Revision, Major Revision, or Reject. A favorable recommendation does not automatically guarantee acceptance; the final decision rests with the editor.

3. Editorial Checking and Final Review

The editor checks the reviewers' recommendations, the completeness of revisions, the accuracy and consistency of the manuscript, references, formatting, and compliance with the journal's policies. The target timeframe is approximately 3–4 weeks.

4. Formal Acceptance Letter

An official acceptance letter will be issued only after the manuscript has successfully completed the required peer-review process and editorial checks.

5. Copyediting and Author Proof

Accepted manuscripts undergo copyediting, language and formatting checks, and author proofing. Authors are expected to review the proofs carefully and respond within the period specified by the editorial office. The target timeframe for this stage is approximately 1–2 weeks.

6. Production and Publication

The journal prepares the final publication files, verifies the article information, and publishes the article through the ThaiJO platform. The target timeframe is approximately 1–2 weeks after the preceding stages have been completed.

IJSET is an open-access journal with no article processing charges (APCs) and no publication fees.

2. Important Conditions Regarding Timelines and Procedures

The stated timelines are targets for individual stages and do not guarantee the total processing time, acceptance date, or publication date. Actual processing times may vary depending on reviewer availability, manuscript complexity, the number of revision rounds, and the time authors require to complete revisions.

All stages of the manuscript review and publication process must be completed in the prescribed order and in accordance with the journal's editorial and ethical standards. No stage may be skipped, and the time required for appropriate peer review and quality assessment will not be shortened as a special exception.

Authors should carefully assess the quality and readiness of their manuscripts before submission. Manuscripts that fall outside the journal's scope or fail to meet its minimum academic and ethical requirements may be rejected during the initial screening without entering peer review.

Authors who urgently require an acceptance decision or publication by a specific deadline are advised to consider whether the journal's review and publication schedule meets their needs.

IJSET sincerely appreciates the contributions of authors and reviewers and their cooperation in maintaining the quality, integrity, and credibility of scholarly publishing.
