Abstract

19 November 1994 was the start of an official excavation by a Thai-Franch paleontological exploration team under Department of Mineral Resources after the report of dinosaur bone discovery at Phu Kum Khao, Wat Sakkawan, Sahasakhan District, Kalasin Province. According to continuous exploration, over 800 dinosaur bones were discovered. Most belonged to at least 7 individual of sauropods. Among those included an almost complete skeleton of sauropod, skulls and sauropod teeth, theropod teeth, crocodiles, turtles, fish and bivalve shells. Because of perfection of this excavation source, it received the budget for further development, and finally becomes Sirindhorn Museum to exhibit the narration from the rise of the world to the rise of humans. Real fossils and top replica of creatures in each particular age were exhibited. The objective is to be a top learning source of fossils of Thailand, particularly dinosaurs; and Moreover, there are also a large Vertebrate laboratory, collection room with modern cataloging system. Located in the heart of Isan, where we can simply travel to other provinces, the museum is suitable to be a research center, learning space and tourist attraction for the general public.
