Designing for Meme-based History Instruction using Online Video Clips to Encourage Media Literacy in Lower Secondary School Students

Abstract
The purpose of this research is to: 1) Study the approach to History Learning Using Meme-based Approach through Video Clips on Online Media to Promote Media Literacy. 2) Design History Learning Using Meme-based Approach through Video Clips on Online Media to Promote Media Literacy and 3) Evaluate the media literacy skills of lower secondary school students. The sample group used in this research is a class of 44 second-year students. Research tools used include document analysis forms, three learning management plans totaling 15 hours, Quality assessment form, and media literacy skill evaluation forms includes 5 areas: 1) access skills, 2) media analysis skills, 3) media evaluation skills, 4) media creation skills, and 5) participation skills: 1) Access Skills 2) Analyze Skills 3) Evaluate Skills 4) Create Skills and 5) Participate Skills
The study found that: 1) the approach to history learning management using meme-based methods comprises four steps: 1) Assimilation 2) Retention 3) Expression and 4) Transmission. 2) The design of history learning management plans using meme-based methods through video clips on online media to promote media literacy skills was high quality. (M = 2.96, SD = 0.04) and 3) Students who learned through this management process had good levels of media literacy skills. (M = 2.96, SD = 0.03)
