QUALITY OF LIFE OF ELDERLY PEOPLE RECEIVING WELFARE PAYMENTS IN THE AREA OF THE TAMBON DONG YEN ADMINISTRATIVE ORGANIZATION, BAN DUNG DISTRICT, UDON THANI PROVINCE

Abstract

This research aimed to 1) study the quality of life of the elderly who received welfare payments in Dong Yen Subdistrict Administrative Organization, 2) compare the quality of life of the elderly who received welfare payments in Dong Yen Subdistrict Administrative Organization classified by gender, age, occupation, and number of family members, and 3) propose guidelines for improving the quality of life of the elderly. The sample group used in the research was the elderly aged 60 years and over in Dong Yen Subdistrict Administrative Organization, 300 people, calculated using Taro Yamane's calculation formula. The instrument used for data collection was a questionnaire consisting of 3 parts. The statistics used for data analysis were descriptive statistics, including numbers, percentages, means, and standard deviations, and inferential statistics, including T-test and F-test. The reliability of the questionnaire was 0.886.

          The research results found that:

          The quality of life of the elderly who received welfare payments in Dong Yen Subdistrict Administrative Organization, Ban Dung District, Udon Thani Province was at a high level overall ( = 3.78, S.D. = 0.35). When considering each aspect, it was found that the aspect with the highest mean value was the physical aspect ( = 3.94, S.D. = 0.56), followed by the mental aspect ( = 3.88, S.D. = 0.49), and the aspect with the lowest mean value was the environment aspect ( = 3.65, S.D. = 0.72).

The results of the comparison of the quality of life of the elderly who received welfare payments in the Dong Yen Subdistrict Administrative Organization, classified by gender, age, occupation, and number of family members. Overall, the quality of life of the elderly who received welfare payments in the Dong Yen Subdistrict Administrative Organization, with different genders, ages, occupations, and numbers of family members, was not different.
2. The results of the study suggest guidelines for developing the quality of life of the elderly who received welfare payments in the Dong Yen Subdistrict Administrative Organization include the creation of facilities for the elderly in a comprehensive and sufficient manner in government offices and public parks.
