THE GUIDELINES FOR DEVELOPING STUDENTS' SELF-LEARNING SKILLS IN THE 21ST CENTURY BASED ON YONISO MANASIKARA OF THAMAKA II SCHOOL GROUP UNDER THE OFFICE OF KANCHANABURI PRIMARY EDUCATIONAL SERVICE AREA II

Abstract

This research aimed to: 1) To study the level of self-directed learning skills of students in the 21st century in the Thamaka 2 School Group under the Office of Kanchanaburi Primary Educational Service Area 2; 2) To study the methods for developing students’ self-directed learning skills in the 21st century based on the principle of Yonisomanasikāra in the Thamaka 2 School Group under the same educational service area; and 3) To propose guidelines for developing students’ self-directed learning skills in the 21st century according to the principle of Yonisomanasikāra in the Thamaka 2 School Group under the Office of Kanchanaburi Primary Educational Service Area 2. This study employed a mixed-methods research design. The sample group consisted of 80 school personnel determined using the Six Sigma method, and 7 key informants selected through purposive sampling. The research instruments included a questionnaire, which yielded a Try-Out reliability coefficient of .981, and an in-depth interview. The data were analyzed using mean, standard deviation, and content analysis.

The study revealed that: 1) The overall level of students’ self-directed learning skills in the 21st century was high, with an average score of 3.94, and all aspects were at a high level. 2) The methods for developing self-directed learning skills based on the principle of Yonisomanasikāra emphasized rational, careful, and systematic thinking in learning, personal attributes, management, inquiry, and evaluation, aiming to cultivate disciplined, responsible, and sustainably self-developing learners. and 3) The guidelines for developing self-directed learning skills according to the principle of Yonisomanasikāra indicated that learners possessed diverse thinking skills, including methodological thinking, step-by-step thinking, logical thinking, and positive thinking, which enabled them to plan, solve problems, search for information, and self-evaluate effectively and sustainably.
